LONG BEACH SYMPHONY OPENING NIGHT

Maestro Benjamin Rous will kick off our season with a “rous”ing performance of Prokofiev’s Symphony #5 in B-flat major– a true expression of the grandeur of the human spirit. Written in 1944, this virtuosic work is bright, energetic, and optimistic and a perfect start to the season. The night will also showcase the versatility of our orchestra musicians with a unique performance of Vaughan Williams’ Tuba Concerto in F Minor performed by Principal tuba, Doug Tornquist. The program begins with Tchaikovsky’s Romeo & Juliet Overture Fantasy – a beloved work whose love theme has been popularly used in dozens of television shows and movies. Come out and welcome in the new Classical season!

Program and artists subject to change.
